According to the New York Times, more than 500,000 American children take online classes (1). Although online classes have been available for a few decades, the number of students taking them is increasing rapidly. This era that people are now living in has been nicknamed the â€Å"digital age.† Many people are modernizing the way that they live by incorporating more technology into their lives. Taking an online class is a remarkable way for a student to keep up with their studies. However some opposers say that online classes will take the place of teachers. That will never be factual because teachers are very valuable to students and an online classroom could never take the place of a real one. Part of life is people learning how to do things by themselves and learning from the mistakes that they have made. In the future, almost all jobs will be dependent on technology. In order to be able to compete for a job, a student must be knowledgeable about computers. They must know how to operate one and how to properly use one. Also, they must keep up with their knowledge about computers because technology grows and changes so fast. A simple job like working at McDonald’s involves computers and different technologies. â€Å"Students today are so digital (Boher 1).† It is true that students spend ridiculous amounts of time on the computer and it is a known fact that teenagers spend multiple hours a day on the computer. Kff.org states that an average teen spends seven and a half hours on the computer everyday (1). Online classes should be offered to students because they love computers. Nowadays, every student has access computer or a laptop. A student taking an online class would probably only have to devote 2 hours to learning on the computer. The rest of the seven and a half hours could be dedicated to social networking, playing online games, and whatever else they do online. Part of the reason that teenagers like the computer so much is because it makes everything so easy.
